In Taiwan, Indonesian workers hold a particularly strong reputation in the caregiving and domestic work sectors. They are often considered the preferred choice for elderly care due to their patience, emotional sensitivity, and ability to provide consistent support. This has made them a dominant presence in Taiwan’s live-in caregiver workforce.

Beyond caregiving, Indonesian workers are also viewed as stable and dependable employees. They tend to maintain long-term contracts, show low absenteeism, and rarely engage in workplace conflict. These traits make them attractive to employers seeking reliability and reduced management burden.

In manufacturing environments, however, the evaluation becomes more balanced. Indonesian workers are generally seen as consistent rather than exceptional in terms of speed and productivity. They perform routine tasks reliably but are often compared to faster-paced workers from other countries in high-output settings.

Language barriers, particularly with Mandarin, remain a key challenge. During the early stages of employment, communication difficulties can slow training and reduce efficiency. In fast-moving factory environments, this can affect both productivity and safety.

Despite these limitations, individual performance can significantly change outcomes. Workers who improve their Mandarin skills, show initiative, and adapt quickly are often recognized and promoted within their workplaces. This highlights that while general patterns exist, personal capability plays a decisive role in shaping how Indonesian workers are perceived in Taiwan.
